The Christmas Eve service at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church will begin tonight at 5:00pm. Everyone is welcome to join us in welcoming the Christ child!!

As you drive past the church, you’ll notice the large painted panel showing the nativity scene which is currently leaning against our office wall. This panel is the center painting of three paintings depicting the nativity scene, the shepherds, and the three kings. The three panels were painted by Rev. Bob Clark who was the pastor at PVUMC in the early 1950s. The panels were originally displayed on the lawn of the town hall, and then over the years moved to the lawn across the street, owned by Charles Lynes. When they became too fragile to be used any longer, they were placed in storage where over the summer members of the Barkhamsted Historical Society “discovered” them. Currently the panels are being refurbished by members of the BHS, who will also store the panels during the rest of the year. We eagerly look forward to completion of the remaining two panels so the entire display can be enjoyed once again. Our sincere thanks to those volunteers who are using their talents to bring these panels back to life.
