The Church Newsletter for October ’24 is Here!
Our church newsletter, The Link, can be viewed below. We hope you’ll take a moment to look it over and see the activities and announcements that it contains.
Since our website presence has been missing over the summer, let me catch you up!
Our Sunday School children are once again attending classes during the worship service, led by our wonderful team of adults. The ladies group, the Mary & Martha’s, have resumed their meetings following a summer off, and they have some fun events planned for the upcoming months. The Tuesday Morning Bible Study group continue to meet each week and further their learning, as well as offering prayers for those who especially need God’ healing hand during hard times. The Community Food Bank has had a face lift and has seen more clients come to take advantage of what is offered. The Visitation Committee has been busy keeping in touch with those folks who are not able to attend services in person, or who just need a personal visit at times. We have passed the two year anniversary of the Winsted UMC folks combining with the PVUMC congregation and what a blessing it has been! We’ve all made new friends and some have been re-acquainted with others from years past.
We continue to be a vibrant source of Christian fellowship here in Pleasant Valley and all are welcome to come worship with us and attend any of the events and functions that are scheduled.
Wow! It’s been awhile…
It’s been awhile since our website has been active and many thanks to those of you who have found us again! Our site domain name (www.pleasantvalley-umc.com) made a minor adjustment (note the hyphen between “Pleasantvalley” and “umc”). While it seemed to be a simple change it was anything but an easy one. Our thanks go to Gene for all his hard work in straightening out this problem and getting us on track once again.
In the next few entries, we’ll try to update you on what’s happening in our little church in the Valley. In the meantime, thank you for continuing your support of our church, our activities, and events, and this website. We look forward to many new things to share with you!

seen an increase in overdoses in the area, and too many friends and families are losing loved
ones to addiction. Sarah Toomey, Community Outreach & Recovery Navigator at Greenwoods
Counseling & Referrals, Inc., will be presenting on the Opioid Pandemic that this country is
faced with. Greenwoods Counseling & Referral has become a leader in Litchfield County
providing education and services to those struggling with or affected by addiction. Sarah will be
presenting an overview of the services Greenwoods provides. In addition, she will present on:
What are opioids? Give a brief history of the opioid epidemic, what is happening in our county
(trends in mental health and addiction), as well as how to access Narcan, support services in our
community. There will be time for questions as well as handouts and contact information for
follow-up services if needed. Anyone from the community is welcome to attend.
